I get to work with the coolest people and some times those people turn out to be great friends. Tanya fits that bill. She’s the lady behind Matix womens and her blog Dainty Hooligan, which is getting piles of press. Most of Tanya’s matix designs feature girly silhouettes with some subtle embellishments that keep them very current, real, and sometimes a little tough. Awesome. I’m lucky getting to see each season unfold piece by piece and the hardest thing is waiting for them to go into production so I can start LIVING in them. I mentioned before that I wanted to start putting stuff up from all the designers I get to work with so I figured I’d start here. Mostly because I spend a lot of time with both Matix and Tanya and she wont judge my poor interview skills, haha. Plus, she’s had to interview me before so its fun to flip the torture table. Here we go:
What made you decide on fashion? Was it something you were passionate about as a little girl or something you stumbled on? Pretty much, when everyone was drawing rainbows, mermaids and unicorns I was drawing prom dresses, shoes and over sized hats. So yeah, think my family knew pretty early what my career would be.

Unlimited Budget, what would you spend it on? no saving the world type stuff either… I want pure materialism: So I’ve never been one to want super expensive purses or shoes, kind of think it’s a waste of money, at least for me. However I would make sure I owned at least 10 Alexander Wang shoes I’ve been dying for, not to mention some Dolce Vita and Jeffrey Campbell shoes who are often more comfortable than the designer originals, Helmut Lang leather jacket, an amazing Valentino dress, Vivienne Westwood anything, Sonia Rykiel Military Jacket, at least 3 Balmain dresses from his Fall 10 line, especially the gold gypsy dresses, an over the top Givenchy dress and at least 2 Alexander McQueen dresses. Materialism at it’s best.

whats coming up for your line: Holiday 2010 is about to drop for Matix Womens, there’s a lot of inspiration from vintage silhouettes and prints. I always like to mix vintage with a bit of masculinity, to toughen it up. Also coming out with Lurker Label, a higher fashion darker side of the industry at pretty affordable prices.
I’m also personally coming out with an altered vintage line, should be dropping later this year, find out more at my blog, DaintyHooligan.

Whats the most important part of a sandwich: Hmmm good stuff. I’d have to go with mayonnaise and tomatoes. Dry sandwiches suck.

Fashion Do’s: Khaki anything right now, cropped baggy tops, high waisted woven shorts, lots of jewelry, pops of color, open toe wedges, oversized tops and anything you feel totally awesome in.

Fashion please do NOT’s: Things change so quickly, so I’m gonna name my all time NOT’s, Teva’s, Rocket dogs (especially the white ones that get all black and nasty), dresses that show the goods, actually anything that shows the goods, shoes you can’t walk in, camel toe pants and anything you feel super awkward in.
This or That:
Beets or Turnips Beets, better for your liver.
Cats or Dogs Damn, used to be a cat person, but have to say 100% dogs.
Beer or Wine WINE by the gallons.
Orange or Green Depends on the shade… liking military olive green right now, but a bright orange dress on tan skin is always amazing. Tied.

Im running a very little sleep this week. Ryans birthday is on Monday, Im trying to get my head in the game. Im lacking anything interesting to blog about.

Im not a huge sex in the city fan but some of SJP’s outfits from the first season are pretty good.

and thats alright with me. How can you hate her? The wardrobe, the boy, and the perpetual train wreck that IS Courtney Love? Im drawn to this, moth to flame. Theres no hiding my love for anything peaking in the 90s actually, so of course Courtney nears the top of my list.  Sometimes I feel like I peaked in the 90s.. somewhere between the ages of 4 and 13.

I got these shoes from f21 a while back but Im thinking about tossing them. The instep is killer and Im not sure about the shape. Dont get me wrong, theyre cute.. and ill wear them until I get a replacement pair butttt theres nothing like the real thing, right? I havent heard anything good about any of the Acne knockoffs to be honest.. oh well..serves us right.

The crazy old man that lives next door yelled out his window at me when I was taking these.. he either said “TAKE IT OFF” or “GO INSIDE”. Ill choose the latter.

Im not editing any of these photos.. they come as is.. kind of like the crowd we were with. They came as is too.. if is = wasted and having too much fun.

This shit show ended with me falling over a table in the lobby of a fancy hotel in downtown LA, finding out that wasnt actually our hotel, and Allen, Ryan and I wandering down the street to Hotel Figueroa at 4 am. But whats new?

Aside from the long hot days spent rotting at the contests I look forward to XGames every year just because of all the awesome people we never get to hang out with are finally on our home turf.

Saw the third photo and it made me what my dark hair back.. but then i stumbled on that last photo and it made me glad to be blonde.

So, I spent the weekend at xgames. Even though Im home now, we’re watching street finals on our FANCY ASS FLAT SCREEN  TV. Oh, did I mention we got a new TV? 42″ mounted on the wall.. no big deal …Thats right couch dwellers, prepare to bask in the lap of luxury next time you visit.  Ransom house, movin on up!

Anyway, Liz and I took some friends from out of town to crawl around on the rocks in the Sunken City. You maybe remember it from this clip.

Back on track here.. the BL is sweet ( BL is short for Big Lebowski..cool kids only.) and the whole day is best summed up by our friend Chuck channeling the lion king on that rock.

Still weird to do this so Ill try it out on this easy outfit. Everything Im wearing is vintage (ebay and thrift) except for the white low back tank which is from Urban.Liz is wearing vintage cut offs and an old plaid button up that kept popping open in the wind.. make her a huge hit all the passersby.
