Last Saturday brought on drinks inside a retail store. Ive been to a few openings, but theres still something that feels a little weird about about getting hammered around fine merchandise. Maybe its because Ive fallen asleep in a corner before.. or maybe its because my bestfriend is the clumsiest human and vodka cranberry is hard to remove from fine merchandise. Im just playing it up for blogging’s sake, we aren’t total trainwrecks. I only managed to spill one shot…. down the back of my friend, Erica Yary’s ,side.

Anyway, where were we? Oh Right, how did we get there? Well, all things aside, Insight extended an invite to the soft opening of their brand new store in Venice. For the most part it looks like any other clothing joint in LA, except this one is filled with Insight clothes. If youve ever stumbled upon this blog you know my affinity for that deconstructed, mid90s, midsummer vibe. It’s something Insight pull’s off very well. Here are some other specifics:

It’s in Venice. Venice is my favorite LA mini-city. Take 2000 people fucked out of their gourds and put them in the sand near a bunch of pretty houses. Yep.

See that giant room up top? The guy in the first photo BUILT that. Brick and mortar. I know I had a hard time picturing it too. Not bad for a lanky guy with glasses, eh?

It’s filled with awesome art. Speaking of art, I mentioned my friend Erica earlier. Well her boyfriend Eric Mchenry makes loads of stuff for Insight too. Here’s his site: TTusk.  Im not just talking about Eric’s art because this is an Insight post either.. I’d been meaning to mention him for awhile. His stuff is awesome, I subscribe to his blog and try to take notes.

I kind of feel like such a sales person with this post but I think its because I had such a good time on Saturday. Fill a room with clothes I like, people I love, and a pallet of free drinks?  Well I cant find anything to bitch about there.

^^^Browsing my “outfits” folder- thought Id share. Lazy Sunday.

Yesterday my girl friends and I were chatting about that weird “what do I look like through other people’s eyes” thing.  Clothes, shape, looking too drunk on facebook.. Everyone is prone to these weird slightly introspective thoughts but its us girls that carry on with it-its O.K. We’re entitled? We’re in our early 20s, we’re shaping ourselves? blahblahblahblahhhwhatever. Basically, when in the company of our best friends.. we’re all as vain as peacocks.

Once one of us has brought it up we basically spend the rest of the evening comparing our parts to other girls’ we see out that night. Which is only slightly different from the norm of tortuously doing that to yourself, and needless to say, I still have no idea what I look like.

Yea, we’re sick. It’s hardly unavoidable though, you are your own worst critic. Someone told me this morning that it was because two naked people ate a fruit and now we’re all doomed to living in judgment of one another. Maybe thats it. Or maybe its our culture, or our nature, or the who the fuck cares I just wanna look nice while I can before everything gets saggy and out of place. How ever you look at it…just remember to part the self loathing seas of conceit and shove some depth in there once in awhile and we’ll all be ok. I guess.

I had too much fun at the Insight Store opening in Venice last night. Ill upload the photos in the morning.

Seriously, Ive never liked an ENTIRE collection before. Clearly designed/styled by someone eager to drain my whole bank account. Gimmie. Bye.

I realize Im posting this boozy update at an unacceptable hour but rest assure, I made this the night before and bumped up the publishing date…I think. I felt like I was over-saturating the time line with too many pointless posts.

Im booked for 14 hours this week. Hopefully Ill have something to show for it. Seriously whos coming to Nasty Gal?

speaking of booze heres a little tip Ive picked up through unfortunate experimentation. Red wine doesn’t mix with Tequila AND/OR Beer: FACT. I don’t need to say much more on the subject. Except that you could end up in a onesie, covered in your own vomit. Onesies are questionable as it is.. dont push your luck with this morning’s danish spread down your front.

Fiona is perfect.. I think my mid 20s brought on my affinity for Kelly Bundy but my late teens belonged solely to her.. In a dream world I’d be some kind of mash up of the two. PS.check out Fiona’s weird ankles.

Superjail is the best thing to happen to my animation addiction since the the new episodes of Beavis & Butthead… and that hasnt even happened yet. It also, for about 15 minutes, prompts me to pretend I can draw again. Swoon worthy talents aside, I was worried that Christy was also going to be insanely attractive and my head would explode.. but no need to worry. He looks like any other “cool” nerd who might like The Melvins a little too much. Head intact.

The lack of blogging this week is due to the shingles managed to contract. I took the liberty of image searching my ailment for you. Enjoy. To further creep you out here’s a bat.
